This year Mother’s Day is observed on May 10th. It is time to honor all mothers for their love and contributions to their family! What is a mom? Well I really don’t think there is a sheet of paper large enough to list everything that they are! So moms, just kick back and relax Mother’s Day is your day! I asked our residents siblings to share something heartwarming or funny about their mother. Viola’s daughter Barbara replied “my mom was an accomplished pianist”. She gave many years to the church playing for Sunday services. I loved hearing her play when we were practicing for church or just playing what she liked. She taught me to play. I got many years of joy at the piano. Thanks Mom! Patricia R. sons Rick and Phil said she always knew how to throw a great party! Once in Spain in 1969 she didn’t just hire a band but instead an entire Choir and Guitar band from the local Medical College known as “Tunas”!
Rick and Phil were only 11 and 7 but we were blown away. See photo below. Everybody danced and sang. Our young Spanish maid was 19 and she fell in love with the handsome young men!
Everyone at the party had so much fun lots of martinis and hangovers! Dora V. daughter Brenda replied “Dear Mommy, One of the fondest memories I have of you was your ability to comfort me in troubling times or when I was upset about something. You would sit me on your lap and hug me until I would stop crying. Then you would make me drink a glass of water. It was like magic. During this time of the pandemic, I could really use one of those hugs! It’s very difficult for me not to be with you right now, but I know how well you are taken care of at the Villas, and I know how wonderful the staff treats you! I love you mom!”
We would like to wish a Happy Birthday to residents Claude C. 3rd, Karin H. the 5th, Patricia R. 15th, Trinidad B. on the 19th and John P. 28th. Also our Med Tech Dollie on the 29th! Even with this exhausting pandemic please try to enjoy each day as much as you can. Life passes by so quickly.
Love to all! Take care and keep safe! From Leslie, Rey, Joe and all the West Indies staff and Residents!
